Try planning with themes. When you're starting out, try theme night meals. Knowing you can count on Meatless Monday or Taco Tuesday takes away a lot of planning stress.

Once you've chosen your meals, make a master ingredient list of all the ingredients you need for recipes that week. Cross off everything on the list you already have in the house. what's left over is your grocery list!

Keep our pantry stocked with a selection of meal mixes to add quick, convenient, and delicious flavor to whatever you're making.

Leave some room for unexpected things to happen. For these days, a pressure cooker & and a meal mix can get dinner ready, even if the meat is still sitting in the freezer.

Buying pre-formed beef patties from the meat counter will cost you about 20% more per pound.

Do this instead: Form your own patties at home.

Tip: Buy ground beef when it's on sale. Form patties, separate with parchment paper, and freeze in a gallon bag. You can even make custom burger mixtures.

The more time someone spends butchering and preparing the chicken, the more you pay - almost twice as much per pound in some cases.

Do this instead: Buy large bulk chicken breasts and trim and prepare them at home. Slice them into thin portions yourself. Freeze them in gallon bags in portions that meet your family's needs.
